Akemi (アケミ) is a minor character in Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami. She is the number one employee at Shangri-La.

Background

Leading up to 2005, one of Akemi's regulars at Shangri-La was Shinji Tanaka. Akemi eventually entered a relationship with Shinji and became engaged to him.

Involvement

Akemi is entrusted by Shinji with hiding Shintaro Kazama at Shangri-La. She is also told if Yukio Terada arrives, to trust him, and if Kazuma Kiryu ever arrives, Shinji has likely passed away. Eventually, Terada arrives and Akemi places Kazama in his custody.

One day, a man enters Akemi's room at Shangri-La and introduces himself as Kiryu. Recognizing the name, Akemi realizes what must've happened to Shinji. Akemi is able to explain their situation, but their conversation is interrupted by a very loud noise. Heading downstairs, Akemi sees one of her colleagues, Reiko, being threated by Goro Majima with a knife. Akemi watches as Kiryu defeats Majima, and she exits the building and is brought to Purgatory.

At Purgatory, Akemi receives Shinji's ashes from The Florist of Sai, though struggles to handle her emotions. Later that night, Akemi hears a loud explosion, and is surprised to see money raining down from the Millennium Tower.
