Profile[edit | edit source]
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Mabuchi has a slightly stocky build. His hair is medium-length and side-parted, and appears to be graying.
Attire[edit | edit source]
Mabuchi wears a white double-breasted suit over printed shirt with matching pair of dress pants and black leather shoes. He also wears a chain necklace.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Through Zhao's admission, it can be inferred that Mabuchi is a talented person thanks to him being good at math and a polyglot. Zhao recounts on how Mabuchi has great aspiration not unlike Ichiban, which is enough for Zhao to appoint him as his right-hand man. He's also assertive, easy to understand, and has clear goals, which enables him to gain loyalists and set a power base to launch a mutiny. However, Mabuchi has a tendency to resort to violence and not above breaking the rules.
Involvement[edit | edit source]
Yakuza: Like a Dragon: 2000-2019[edit | edit source]
Mabuchi is dissatisfied with the balance of power between the Ijin Three and wanted to break the balance by creating a conflict between the three organizations. He instigated the murder of Nonomiya and the attack on two young Seiryu Clan yakuza members to spark the conflict.
After his plot is hampered by the efforts of Ichiban Kasuga and his allies, it is revealed he was operating on the orders of Bleach Japan and the Omi Alliance, in an effort to weaken the Great Wall of Muscle within Ijincho, allowing the Omi to invade. He believed that by handing the Omi Ijincho, he would be given a position of power like Masumi Arakawa had been when he gave them Kamurocho.
Later, Mabuchi gains the assistance of Omi lieutenants Reiji Ishioda and Yosuke Tendo, and together they attack Tianyou Zhou and install Mabuchi as the Liumang's new leader. However, he is again thwarted by Kasuga and his allies. After his defeat, Zhao - who once thought of Mabuchi as a brother - warns him to leave Ijincho, as Seong-hui would not ignore his treachery and would hunt him down.
During Zhao's Level 5 bond event, he receives a message from Mabuchi, allegedly about him wanting to peacefully return to Ijincho. It was, however, a trap, as Mabuchi planned to kill Zhao and Kasuga and hand their heads to the Omi in another attempt to gain power. After being defeated yet again, Mabuchi still plans to fight, but an enraged Zhao pleads with him to stop and simply leave, or face all of his ambitions being wasted by a pointless death.
Fighting Style[edit | edit source]
Mabuchi uses the guandao as his primary weapon in combat. He has skills that can cause a wide variety of status ailments such as paralysis. He also has a counterattack that can punish foes for attacking him at a close-range.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Mabuchi appears to be well-educated, as Zheng stated that he's a college graduate and fluent in Chinese, English, and Korean.
- Some of his henchmen call him "Lao Ma" (老馬), which literally means "Old Ma." It's a common Chinese term of endearment based off a person's surname.

- The given height of 190 cm (6′ 3″) is based on the character model's scaling factor within the game's data. For Dragon Engine games, this method is believed to be very accurate (±1 cm). However, this is intended as an estimate, not a substitute for an official statistic.
