Asai is a character featured in Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami. He is the Captain of the Atobe Family.
Background[]
Asai is the Captain of the Atobe Family, a Tokyo-based yakuza organization with unclear ties to the Tojo Clan. It is implied that he's known Patriarch Atobe's daughter, Kyoka, since she was a little girl, since he knows that she grew up as a very lonely child because other children weren't allowed to play with her because of her father's profession.

Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami: 2005[]
Kyoka tries to elope with her boyfriend, Takashi. To facilitate this, she steals a suitcase full of money from her father's business. In response, Patriarch Atobe sends out several of his men to look for Kyoka and get her to come back home, as well as to punish Takashi for (in the Patriarch's mind) manipulating Kyoka into running away with him.
Captain Asai leads one of the groups of Atobe men looking for the pair and eventually corners them at Club Deborah. However, Asai struggles with getting Kyoka to come with them, as the girl refuses to abandon Takashi and is unafraid of the Captain's vague threats, since she knows her father would not order his men to hurt her. The confrontation is interrupted by the arrival of Kazuma Kiryu, who'd been sent to help the pair of young lovers at the request of Takashi's father, the Florist of Sai. Kiryu's interruption results in a brawl in which he beats Captain Asai and his men.
After the Atobe men are beaten, Captain Asai pulls out a letter which Patriarch Atobe had written in case his men failed to convince Kyoka to return. Asai read out the letter, in which the Patriarch apologized to his daughter for his failings as a father and agreed to let her marry Takashi. Afterwards, Asai and his men departed the club.

Asai uses Kiryu's knife weapon moveset from Yakuza 3 onward. His rejuvenation state correlates to Kiryu's Brawler style.
His aura in Heat Mode is blue.
