Atobe (跡部) is a minor character featured in Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2. He is the patriarch of the Atobe Family, and father of Kyoka Atobe. He is based in Asakusa, a district of Tokyo.

Personality[]
Atobe is fiercely protective of his daughter Kyoka, to the point that he is even willing to have her boyfriend Takashi killed to stop her from being with him as he does not think that Takashi is adequate to be her husband. However, in Yakuza 2, Atobe is shown to be much more sympathetic to Kyoka, allowing her to be with Takashi for the time being.

Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami: 2005[]
Atobe sends thugs, including the B-Kings gang, after Takashi. Kiryu, doing a favor for the Florist of Sai, finds Takashi and the Atobe Family in Debolah and repels them. After the fight, Atobe's captain reveals that Atobe had prepared a letter letting Kyoka go if the gangsters could not get her to stay, and reads it out in front of Kyoka and Takashi.
During this period, Atobe visits the Florist and watches all of the events unfold on camera. With the Florist being Takashi's father, Atobe remarks him as "a fine lad" and accepts Kyoka and Takashi's relationship.
Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2: 2006[]
Atobe, sympathetic to his daughter, is allows her to elope with Takashi. He meets with Kyoka regularly in a love hotel in the Hotel District, where he gives her money. He begs her to come back to him, saying that she deserves better than Takashi. Takashi finds this out when he visits the Florist with Kiryu to ask him about Kyoka's suspicious activity.
