Amon Genjosai (亜門 玄丈斎, Amon Genjōsai) is the secret boss of Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin!/Like a Dragon: Ishin!. He is a member of the Amon Clan.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Genjosai looks identical to Jo Amon, with the exception of his hair being worn in a topknot.
Attire[]
Like the other Amon Clan characters, Genjosai wears a pair of aviator sunglasses. He has a black kimono over which he wears a gold-embroidered black haoriWP. He also has a pair of arm guards.
Involvement[]
Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin!/Like a Dragon: Ishin!: 1867[]
Sakamoto Ryoma meets Amon after completing the final Battle Dungeon stage, assuming he has already beaten the other Battle Dungeon stages and completed all the game's substories. Sakamoto first fights Amon, along with a number of shadow warriors, who bestow abilities such as health regeneration upon him. After being defeated for the first time, Amon challenges Sakamoto to a one-on-one fight at Kiyomizudera temple. This fight is the true superboss fight, as Sakamoto does not have the benefit of his soldier card abilities. After winning, Amon gives Sakamoto the "Enchanted Sword that Time Forgot". This can be upgraded to the most powerful sword in the game, the "Yumeryusai," but only after defeating 100 enemies using the lackluster Enchanted Sword that Time Forgot.
Fighting Style[]
Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin![]
Genjosai is fought twice in Ishin!: first in a special version of the final Battle Dungeon mission, and again at Kiyomizudera. He wields the Last of the Dragons and uses Inoue Genzaburo's moveset, but without his triple-stab and downed attacks. If he is disarmed, he will use Shun Akiyama's moveset as a substitute until he retrieves his sword. He has hyper armor in both fights.
In the Battle Dungeon mission, Genjosai is accompanied by three Shadow Warriors who can only be damaged with attacks from a specific fighting style: the blue Warrior is vulnerable to Swordsman attacks only, the red Warrior to Brawler only, and the green Warrior to Wild Dancer only. All three of them use Akiyama's moveset, and can perform a dancing animation to restore their health. Genjosai cannot be damaged until they have all been killed.
Genjosai's second fight is separated into two phases, and he has a total of fifteen health bars. He can take a ridiculous amount of punishment and deal an equally ridiculous amount of damage, to the point that he can potentially kill Sakamoto in one hit. In the first phase, he fights like he did in the first encounter, but with the addition Sakamoto's Dragonfang Flash attack.
His second phase is initiated after eight of his health bars have been depleted. When it begins, Genjosai will enter Heat Mode and pull out a Golden Pistol. He starts using an incredibly basic version Sakamoto's Wild Dancer style, merely consisting of:
- the first attack from Sakamoto's Rush Combo,
- firing a single shot from his gun,
- Sakamoto's Sickle of the Dust Devil attack, and
- Sakamoto's Dragon God Dance attack.
However, his sword attacks will project long-ranged energy waves, allowing him to possibly hit Sakamoto if the slash itself fails to connect.
His aura is pinkish red.
