The One (運命の女, Unmei no Onna, Lit. "The Woman of Destiny") is the second chapter of Part 1 of Yakuza 4, and the second chapter overall.
Plot[]
In a flashback to 2005, Akiyama is shown living as a homeless man in Kamurocho, where he witnessed the explosion atop Millennium Tower from the first game's climax and the ensuing windfall of money that resulted from it.
Back in 2010, Akiyama is released from police custody after Hana testifies that he was not behind the shooting. Regardless, the detective assigned to the case, Junji Sugiuchi, warns Akiyama to stay away from Kanemura Enterprises and the Ueno Seiwa Clan. He also informs him that, while he was in custody, Hiroshi Kanemura was murdered in his office by an unknown assailant.
Akiyama returns to the Sky Finance office, where he's visited by a new client: A mysterious woman going by the name "Lily", who heavily resembles Akiyama's old girlfriend, Eri. Lily is in search of a loan, and she's been told that Sky Finance lends money without interest, guarantors or collateral. When inquired as to the amount she seeks, she says she needs 100 million yen. Despite being surprised by the high loan, Akiyama agrees to loan her the money at no interest if she can pass a test of his devising, as per his usual lending policy. He tells her to return the next day for her test.
Afterwards, Akiyama meets with Kido above Theater Square. Kido's just been interviewed by Sugiuchi about Kanemura's death, since he's the one who found the body. As it seems, the police suspect the murderer is a woman, since Kanemura was found half-naked and with a lipstick stain on his neck. Kido also mentions that Arai has gone into hiding since killing Ihara and he's not been able to locate him. The pair are interrupted by goons from the Shibata Family who also seek Arai and suspect Kido or Akiyama may know his whereabouts. When the thugs' leader mentions that some of his men were sent to raid Sky Finance, Akiyama tells Kido to warn Hana while he stays behind to fight the Shibata men. Akiyama easily defeats the goons, but is then confronted by police officers who heard the commotion, forcing him to flee. He loses the cops and arrives back at Sky Finance to save Hana, only to find that she's already defeated the Shibata men by herself.
