The Unforgiven (許されざる者, Yurusarezaru Mono) is the 13th and final chapter of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.

Plot[]

In his office, Chairman Kurusu is seen with his son Tsuneo Iwami. He lets his father know that he is finished but that Daidoji and him have formed a new contract. Tsuneo reveals that he has known the secret for forty years when a Yomei officer named Matsunaga came to him. Tsuneo details how it is now his time to take what he wants. Then Koshimizu walks into the office with a gun. He proceeds to shoot Chairman Kurusu. Daidoji is then shown on his deathbed and he informs Tsuneo that he needs to take care of Kiryu before he dies if he wants the same deal that his father had.

In the hospital, Yuta and Haruto are waiting bedside near Haruka. After she is touched by her son, Haruka proceeds to wake up from her coma.

In Onomichi, the Hirose Family is mourning the death of Hirose. On the news, they see a report about the Yamato Mark II. Kiryu enters the building letting them know about the good news with Haruka. Kiryu receives a call from Someya telling him to come to the dock, because he has something that he wants to tell him. He lets you know that the entire family is coming after you and the Hirose Family. He believes that it is best for you to get out of town as soon as possible.

Kiryu returns to Kamurocho so that he can talk to Haruka in the police hospital. While at the hospital, Akiyama appears. He tells you that they will attempt to find a place for Haruka and her family to live. Kiryu then leaves and says that he needs to place a call to Someya. Someya says that Sugai is at the top floor of the Millennium Tower. Following the trip to the hospital, Kiryu heads to New Serena to meet up with his crew. He proceeds to the Millennium Tower and makes his way through the building. Nagumo, Tagashira & Matsunaga stay back at the lobby to battle the enemy backup to let Kiryu, Yuta & Akiyama continue to the upper floors. At one point, an enemy stabs Yuta in the abdomen with a dagger. Kiryu & Akiyama manage to defeat him and other enemies in the office, at that point Kiryu tells Akiyama to stay with Yuta before going on alone. As you reach the top floor, you will receive a call from Sugai. He tells you that he doesn't have time to wait for you, but waiting for you in his place is Someya who is armed with a sword. Upon defeating Someya, Sugai reveals that he has captured Kiyomi. Tsuneo Iwami tries to bargain with Kiryu, he reveals that he will let free Koyemi in exchange for Kiryu killing Someya. Time runs out, but Someya takes the sword to himself. While suffering from his wound, Someya reveals that their daughter Hiromi was always treated well by him. Kiyomi is shot anyway by Koshimizu who says that time was up.

The group reconvenes back at New Serena. They realize that neither of them are safe and that the best course of action is for them to completely split up until things are safer. Before he leaves, Akiyama attempts to rationalize with Kiryu by explaining just what the Dragon of Dojima has meant to the city. Nagumo heads to the roof and waits on Kiryu. Nagumo reveals that the funeral for Chairman Kurusu will take place the following day at the shipyard and that he will do anything to aid you. He also tells you to take your time saying goodbye to Kamurocho and to join him at New Serena when you are ready.

Back in Onomichi, Kiryu and Nagumo confronted Iwami and Sugai at Kurusu's funeral but Koshimizu steps in with his men and the duo begins to fight him. After Kiryu defeats Koshimizu, Iwami presents Kiryu two of his men holding Haruka and Haruto at gunpoint and revealed that he paid Honjo's superior to order Honjo to arrest them for illegal confinement. In a flashback where Date watch over Haruka and Haruto in the hospital, Honjo confronted and accused them for illegal protection and arrested them. However, two police officers revealed to be Iwami's goons and shot Honjo and Date taking Haruka and Haruto with them. With Haruka and Haruto at gunpoint, Kiryu and Nagumo are forced to stand down as Iwami tortures Nagumo and Sugai brutally beats up Kiryu with a pipe. Iwami then attempts to finish off Kiryu but the Hirose family steps in to rescue Haruka and Haruto and encouraged Kiryu and Nagumo to stand up.  With the Hirose Family fending off Sugai and his men, Kiryu then battles Iwami and eventually defeating him. After defeating Iwami, Kiryu attempts to finish him off but Iwami quickly orders Sugai to shoot Haruka and Haruto. Sugai shoots Nagumo while Kiryu knocks Iwami unconscious to save them. Yuta attempts to shield Haruka and Haruto but Kiryu took the shot from Sugai in the torso. Sugai then shoots Kiryu two times in the left side of his torso and right leg but Tagashira disarms him when he attempts to reload his gun. Sugai is then cornered by Tagashira, Nagumo, and Matsunaga and shoots himself after saying that his "dreams ends". Yuta and Haruka attempts to save Kiryu but uses his last moments to beg Haruka to live with Yuta and Haruto before losing his consciousness as Haruka screams for losing Kiryu once again.

Epilogue[]

One month later, Nagumo meets with Kiyomi and Someya's tween daughter, Hiromi, at her mother's bar in Onomichi. Nagumo tells her that father loved her deeply and asks her if she remembers her mother, since she'd left when she was very young. Hiromi says that she only knows her from pictures and the stories her father used to tell her. Then, Kiyomi enters the bar and greets her daughter. As it turns out, Captain Koshimizu had been moved by Someya's sacrifice, so he decided to only pretend to kill Kiyomi and then hid her away so that Tsuneo and Sugai didn't find out she'd been spared. Kiyomi thanks Nagumo and he acknowledges that, even though she'll never love him like he loves her, he still wants to be around to help her. Outside the bar, Matsunaga and Naoto bid Haruka and Yuta goodbye, as they'll be moving together to Haruka's orphanage in Okinawa. The couple promise to visit as often as they can.

In Tokyo, Daigo Dojima is released from prison and he is met by Goro Majima and Taiga Saejima, who'd been released a few weeks prior. Daigo's advisors tell him that the Tojo Clan is on the brink of war with the Yomei Alliance due to their role in Kiryu's death, and he needs to decide whether to move forward with an invasion of Hiroshima. Even though Sugai is dead and Tsuneo has been arrested for his father's murder, Majima and Saejima advise Dojima to move forward with the attack. They claim that the Yomei are in a vulnerable position due to the chaos of the past month, and their new chairman, Koshimizu, is still settling into his new role. However, Daigo decides against going to war. Before his final battle Kiryu had written a letter to Daigo, which Daigo shows to Majima and Saejima. In the letter Kiryu had requested that Daigo not seek revenge in the event of his death.

At New Serena, Akiyama visits Date to tell him that he will be re-opening Sky Finance now that the Saio are gone. He also asks him if Kiryu is truly dead, since Date was the only person who supposedly saw his body. Date tells Akiyama that Kiryu is really gone, but Akiyama does not believe him and hopes that Date will someday tell him the truth.

In a flashback, Kiryu is seen awakening in a hospital bed the day after he was shot. Beside him is an unnamed politician who identifies himself as Minoru Daidoji's successor. He informs Kiryu that Daidoji has died, so he and his allies will not pursue Kiryu or his loved ones anymore, as long as he tells nobody about Daidoji's role in the secret of Onomichi. Kiryu says he has two additional conditions: First, all charges against Dojima, Majima and Saejima must be dropped. Second, the politician must use his connections to help Kiryu fake his death. Kiryu is tired of having his legacy constantly drag his loved ones into peril, so he wants to bury his old life so that Haruka and everyone else he cared about will be left alone. At this point, Date enters the room, having heard everything from the outside. Kiryu's friend tries to dissuade him from this, but Kiryu has accepted his fate and cannot be persuaded. The politician agrees and departs.

In Okinawa, Haruka and Yuta have moved into Morning Glory Orphanage, where they live with her foster siblings and raise Haruto together. In the story's closing moments, Haruka and Yuta are teaching Haruto to walk by himself while Kiryu watches from a distance. Haruto sees him and tries to reach out towards him. When the baby takes his first steps alone, Kiryu walks away before anyone else can see him. Kiryu then walks into the distance, satisfied that his life's goal is complete and that he is finally free from his life of crime.
