Touto University Hospital (東都大学医学部附属病院, Tōto Daigaku Igaku-bu Fuzoku Byōin, Lit. "Touto University Faculty of Medicine Hospital"), often shortened to Touto Hospital (東都病院, Tōto Byōin), is a medical facility in Tokyo that serves the Kamurocho area.
History[]
Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami[]
In 1995-1996, after Kazuma Kiryu's incarceration, Akira Nishikiyama comes to Touto Hospital on a regular basis to visit his sister Yuko and try to get her treatment by any lengths. After he discovers the doctor that he believed to be her last hope was in fact a fraud and had cleared out, he breaks down in front of the hospital's entrance.
Yakuza 3[]
Tojo Clan Sixth Chairman Daigo Dojima is an inpatient here after being shot by Andre Richardson due to a misunderstanding. Kiryu fights the Hakuho Clan and reaches the top to confront Yoshitaka Mine and Richardson.
Yakuza 5[]
After being shot by Tsubasa Kurosawa, Daigo and Naoki Katsuya are taken to Touto Hospital, where they lay comatose. Masaru Watase visits the latter and Tatsuo Shinada then comes to visit the former. The patients later wake up and leave while still injured to stop Kurosawa from killing Goro Majima and Taiga Saejima.
Yakuza 6[]
In late 2012, Kiryu is brought to Touto Hospital after being found by Haruka Sawamura and is treated for his wounds. Shun Akiyama is seen in his room with Haruka while Saejima and Majima wait outside. Tokyo police later come to arrest Saejima and Kiryu.
In late 2016, Haruka is rushed to Touto Hospital after being run over. A nurse insists that Akiyama, who is once again living as a homeless man, leave the building as he is an infection risk. Haruka is later transferred to a police-owned hospital after Makoto Date becomes concerned by the increasing number of calls by supposed Tojo Clan members asking to see her.
Lost Judgment[]
Reiko Kusumoto brought Mitsuru Kusumoto to the hospital in 2021 in hopes of spurring his recovery. Mitsuru eventually wakes up and later begins rehabilitation, being able to take steps by early 2022.
The Kaito Files[]
Masaharu Kaito is brought to Touto hospital to recuperate twice. First after falling from a building which would have paralyzed most, then after returning from Isezaki Ijincho following being poisoned.
Trivia[]
- The finale to Yakuza 3 shows that the Touto University Hospital's tower has considerably more than 25 floors, due to Kiryu's long elevator ride to the rooftop after visiting floor 25. The tallest hospital building in real-life Japan only has 26 floors, and that was not completed until August 2009, 5 months after the game is set.
