Freelancer (フリーター, Furītaa), also known as Yakuza (荒川組組員, Arakawa-gumi Kumi-in, lit. "Member of the Arakawa Family"), Arakawa Loyalist (元・荒川組組員, Moto Arakawa-gumi Kumi-in, lit. "Ex-Member of the Arakawa Family"), and Deadbeat (みならいホームレス, Minarai Hōmuresu, lit. "Apprentice Homeless Guy"), is a job class featured in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It is one of two jobs exclusive to Ichiban Kasuga, the other being Hero.

— In-Game Description, Yakuza: Like a Dragon.Ichiban Kasuga exclusive job. Relies on bare-knuckle brawling and Kasuga's pro wrestling moves to knock enemies senseless. A high-offense job that allows Kasuga to learn terrain-based Skills.
Kasuga's Freelancer style moveset is as follows: a wide right hook, left hook, and uppercut combo for a basic attack, a stomp for an Opportune Strike, a wild haymaker that has Kasuga wind it up before throwing his entire weight into it (Tenacious Punch), headlocks (Rock Swing), headbutts from a lapel grab (Headbutt Barrage), dropkicks, a front kick to the face (Ruffian's Kick), an atomic drop, and a release German suplex. Kasuga can make use of the environment with the Heat Action, Essence of Roadside Weapon and can use a skill called Hyper Swagger to shadowbox and weave in place, causing his evasion and attack to rise.

The Freelancer's basic attack covers distance until in range, then delivers a three-punch combo which may knock the target down. It turns into an Opportune Strike if the target is already on the ground, dealing additional damage accordingly. If suitable objects are nearby, the Freelancer picks them up and uses them as weapons instead, dealing additional damage accordingly with a chance to inflict Stun.
