Fujita (冨士田) is an antagonist featured in Yakuza 5. He is the former manager of the Nagoya Wyverns, the current manager of the Tokyo Gigants, and the leader of the Nagoya Family.

Profile[]

Personality[]

Fujita has a strong love for baseball. As the person who setup Tatsuo Shinada, he holds strong remorse for his past actions, and quit baseball immediately afterwards.

Background[]

At an unknown point, Fujita became the manager of the Nagoya Wyverns. In 1997, Fujita became the first leader of the Nagoya Family, backed by the Kuroha Family.

With the task of match-fixing baseball games by the Kuroha Family, Fujita instructed his team to play accordingly. The day before a match-fixed game between the Nagoya Wyverns and the Tokyo Gigants, Fujita expressed his regret of match-fixing to Yuki Sawada. With the possibility that Sawada faces Tatsuo Shinada the next day, Fujita was aware of Shinada's weakness: curveballs, but instructed Sawada to throw a fastball anyway, hoping Shinada would succeed as a genuine player.

The next day, on June 8, 1997, Fujita played his role as the Nagoya Wyverns' manager. With the Tokyo Gigants having a suspiciously poor performance, the goal would be for the Nagoya Wyverns to fail, while not being too obvious. Fujita benched Atsushi Sakai, and had Shinada pinch hit in his place; immediately afterwards, Shinada hit a home run. Despite the home run, Shinada was banned from baseball anyways due to evidence of match-fixing fabricated by the Kuroha Family. With his guilty conscience, Fujita resigned as manager of the Nagoya Wyverns, quitting baseball.

Involvement[]

Yakuza 5: 2012[]

Fujita makes headlines when he announces his re-entry to the professional baseball scene as the new manager of the Tokyo Gigants. He also plans to have Yuki Sawada become the next leader of the Nagoya Family. After some time, he writes a confession of his guilt in the 1997 match-fixing scandal, but is killed by Kurosawa before he could take it to the authorities. Kurosawa burns the confession and sets up the crime scene to look like a suicide, but drops an Omi Alliance pin as a hint.
