Profile[]

Appearance[]

Attire[]

Personality[]

Inshun is a very conceited man, who believes himself to be an unparalleled fighter. He is brash and arrogant; treating people whom he believes to be unworthy of his time with rudeness and blatant dismissiveness. He is also surprisingly bratty, since he throws a loud, toddler-like tantrum when he loses the Hozoin tournament to Kiryu.

Background[]

Inshun was raised at Hozoin Temple to become a monk. There he studied the famous Hozoin-ryu spear-fighting style under its creator, the famous warrior monk and master of the Temple, Hozoin In'ei. Over the years, Inshun proved to be In'ei's most-skilled pupil and; when the old master retired, he chose him as his successor in the position of Master of Hozoin.

However, soon after ascending to the role of temple master, Inshun's leadership started to worry his former mentor. In'ei believed that Inshun's pride had made him careless and reticent to learn from his foes, so the Hozoin-ryu fighting style was becoming static and unadaptive under him.

Involvement[]

Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan!: 1605[]

In 1605, In'ei's concerns over Inshun's tenure have grown to the point that he's decided to indirectly intervene in order to teach his former pupil another lesson. In the lead-up to that year's martial arts tournament at Hozoin, In'ei started spreading rumors that "Miyamoto Musashi"; a ronin who'd been fighting duels across the Japan for the past few years, would participate in the tournament. In'ei hoped the possibility of facing the infamous "Miyamoto Musashi" would attract many strong contenders to the tournament; one of whom could defeat Inshun and humble him.

As it so happened, one of the attendees at the tournament was the real Miyamoto Musashi, who came under the alias of Kiryu Kazumanosuke to search for the imposter who'd been fighting duels in his name.

After gaining entry to the tournament with In'ei's help, Kiryu easily made it to the finals, where he would complete against Inshun. However, Inshun was initially unwilling to fight Kiryu, as he was hoping that his adversary in the finals would be "Miyamoto Musashi". Only after Kiryu taunted and belittled him did Inshun agree to fight; whereupon he was quickly defeated. Much to the surprise of Kiryu, In'ei and the entire crowd of spectators watching the tournament, Inshun started crying and throwing a tantrum after losing. Inei would later tell Kiryu that he hoped Inshun's humiliation after his loss and public breakdown would prompt him to change his ways and become less narcissistic.
