The Jingweon Officer (真拳幹部; Jingweon Kanbu) is a character featured in Ryu Ga Gotoku Online.

Background[]

The Jingweon Officer is a high-ranking member of the Jingweon Mafia, operating out of South Korea. He is the immediate superior and longtime boss of Joon-gi Han.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Online - 1999[]

In 1999, after Ryuji Goda; the long lost son of the boss of the Jingweon's former Japanese Branch, is expelled from the Omi Alliance, the Jingweon's headquarters decide to recruit him into their organization. The Jingweon Officer tasks Joon-gi Han with traveling to Japan and convincing Ryuji to travel to Korea to meet with the Jingweon leadership.

Han's mission proves more difficult than initially anticipated, as Ryuji is uninterested in joining the Jingweon. Instead, Ryuji embarks on a cross-country trip through Japan to try different local cuisine, dragging Han along with him, since the Jingweon operative had been instructed to not return to Korea without Ryuji. In the process, the two men befriend each other.

As a consequence of their exploits during the trip, the Tojo Clan realizes that the Jingweon are trying to recruit Ryuji and they dispatch Ichiban Kasuga and Daisaku Kuze to assassinate him, to prevent any possible partnership between the Omi and the Jingweon. In turn, the Jingweon learn that the Tojo are onto them, so the Jingweon Officer sends Han new instructions: Since the Jingweon are in no condition to fight the Tojo at the time, instead of recruiting Ryuji, Han must now kill him as a sign to the Tojo that the Jingweon does not want conflict with them. Ultimately, Han can't bring himself to kill Ryuji, but he doesn't have to, as the Omi man is seemingly killed by Ichiban Kasuga.

After Ryuji's apparent death, the Jingweon Officer is contacted by Ryuji's rival in the Omi, Wataru Takayama. Takayama has grown frustrated with Omi chairman Jin Goda, so he wants to usurp his position. In exchange for the Jingweon's support in the coup, Takayama would form a partnership with them to go to war with the Tojo Clan. The Jingweon leadership agrees with the plan and dispatch the Jingweon Officer, accompanied by a team of his personal assassins, to aid Takayama with his plan.

When Takayama and the Jingweon Officer stage their attack against Jin Goda, the Chairman is saved by Joon-gi Han, who betrays his boss out of guilt for allowing Ryuji to be killed. Han takes Chairman Goda to one of his safehouses in Sotenbori, but Takayama and the Jingweon Officer eventually track them down. However, this second attempt on the Chairman's life is prevented by the arrival of a very much alive Ryuji, whose death had only been faked by Kasuga. Ryuji is accompanied by Ichiban and by Kuze, both of whom have learned of Takayama and the Jingweon's plot and have joined forces with the Omi man to prevent this threat against the Tojo Clan. Together, Ryuji, Han, Kasuga and Kuze defeat Takayama and the Jingweon men, putting an end to their conspiracy.

A few days later, the Jingweon headquarters have rescinded their partnership with Takayama, but the Jingweon Officer still wants to assassinate Ryuji, since he believes that the iron creed of the Jingweon demands retaliation for the humiliation he caused them. However, by this point Takayama has grown to respect Ryuji because of the incredible strength he's displayed and no longer wants him dead, since he believes Ryuji can lead the Omi Alliance to supremacy over Japan's yakuza. As a result, Takayama kills the Jingweon Officer to prevent any further attacks against Ryuji. In turn, Takayama is killed by the Officer's surviving henchmen.
