Kojiro Ozaki (尾崎 浩二郎, Ozaki Kōjirō) is an antagonist in Judgment. He is the lieutenant of the Matsugane Family.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Ozaki has a large, heavy build. He is tall and heavyset, often using his size to his advantage by throwing his full body weight into attacks. He has black hair in a slicked back hairstyle.

Attire[]

Ozaki wears a pink two-piece suit with a Matsugane Family crest lapel pin on the lapel of his suit, a gold chain necklace, a blue patterned button up shirt, a black leather belt with a gold buckle, and black dress shoes.

Background[]

Ozaki is a lieutenant in the Matsugane Family, a third-tier subsidiary of the Tojo Clan. Ozaki is deeply loyal to the family's Captain; Kyohei Hamura, who; on top of being his boss, is also a close friend of his. The two frequently go out to play cho-han in gambling halls across Kamurocho.

In 2017, he had aided Captain Hamura in displacing his fellow lieutenant, Masaharu Kaito, from the family by setting up a robbery on the family's offices while Kaito was looking after the place. After the plot was uncovered by Kaito's friend and oath brother, Toru Higashi, Ozaki was present when Hamura killed the robbery's perpetrator, Red Nose, and framed Higashi for the crime in order to keep him from revealing the truth to Patriarch Mitsugu Matsugane.

Involvement[]

Judgment: 2018-2019[]

In 2018, when Kaito and his best friend, private detective Takayuki Yagami, start investigating Hamura's link to the mysterious killings perpetrated in Kamurocho by a serial killer dubbed "the Mole", Ozaki aids him in sabotaging the investigation. When Hamura meets with Yagami for a talk in Café Alps, Ozaki and Hamura's bodyguard, Kengo, attack Yagami and drag him to the alley behind the café to kill him. Unfortunately for them, Yagami is rescued by a masked burglar named Jester; who distracts the two would-be killers long enough for Yagami to escape the ambush. Ozaki is next seen with Hamura, punishing Higashi for not following orders and attacking Yagami. As punishment, Ozaki punches Higashi is the stomach.

Later on, Yagami and Kaito manage to track down Hamura to a gambling den where he and Ozaki are having one of their gamblers' nights out. The detectives fight the Captain and his Lieutenant, beating them both and briefly questioning Hamura before he is rescued by reinforcements brought in by Kengo.

When Hamura is later kidnapped by the detectives, Patriarch Matsugane and the Kyorei Clan to interrogate him about the Mole's identity and his connection to the Advanced Drug Development Center, Ozaki leads an attack on the Kyorei's base at Cabaret Honmauren to rescue the Captain. Ozaki and his goons set the building on fire to disorient the Kyorei forces and they blow up their lieutenant, Akira Murase, with a bomb. During the fighting, Ozaki manages to catch up to Yagami and Matsugane as they are escorting a captive Hamura out of the building, but he is unable to defeat Yagami in order to free the Captain. During the attack, the Mole took advantage of the commotion to also break into Cabaret Honmauren in order to assassinate Hamura to keep him from revealing his identity. However, the Mole was unsuccessful in his pursuit, since Patriarch Matsugane sacrificed himself to keep Hamura from being killed by leaping in front of him when the Mole tried to shoot him.

After Patriarch Matsugane was killed and Captain Hamura went into hiding, the Matsugane Family was left leaderless and its members were left furious, desperate to find the Mole and kill him in retaliation for killing their Patriarch and driving their Captain into exile. Ozaki and Kengo rallied the family's soldiers and confronted Yagami and Higashi to try to force them into revealing the Mole's identity (which Yagami had learned from Hamura after Matsugane's death), resulting in a violent brawl at the Matsugane Family office. After Yagami and Higashi defeat them, they reveal that the Mole is actually Mitsuru Kuroiwa, a detective in the TMPD. Stunned by the fact that the killer was a police officer; whom they cannot go after because of his protected status, Ozaki and Kengo are then persuaded by Higashi to let go of their quest for revenge and to instead help protect Yagami and his friends until the day of the trial for Kazuya Ayabe; where Yagami and Kaito plan to publicly expose the Mole's crimes and their link to the ADDC.

Fighting Style[]

To make up for not being skilled in any martial arts, Ozaki uses his massive size to his advantage, swinging around his arms and legs to deal damage.

His main combo is 2 left jabs, a right hook and a left roundhouse kick. He also has another combo of a right roundhouse kick, a left reverse roundhouse kick and a right haymaker, another combo of a hammerfist, a right backfist, a left kick and an outwards lariat and yet another combo of a right haymaker and a left body thrust.

He also has a right kick and a flying dropkick. His downed attack is a body slam. If he grabs Yagami, he will throw him to the ground and reverse body-slam him.

Ozaki's aura is pinkish red. His Deadly Attack is a right haymaker followed by a double hammerfist.

Trivia[]

  • Ozaki's theme song was originally not supposed to be "A Vast Fire", but rather another at-the-time unnamed song. This song went unused in Judgment and eventually appeared in Yakuza: Like a Dragon under the name "From Today I am a Dragon Racer".
