Masashi Suzaki (須崎 雅司, Suzaki Masashi), also known as Ryo Suzaki (須崎 遼, Suzaki Ryō), is a minor character featured in Judgment and Lost Judgment.

As Masashi, he is a former member of the Matsugane Family and a real estate agent. As Ryo, he is unemployed. His weapon of choice has earned him the nickname Cane Man (ステッキ男, Sutekki-dan).

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Masashi is of above-average height with a slim build. He has short black hair, which he wears slicked-back, and brown eyes.

Attire[]

Masashi's signature attire consists of a maroon leather jacket worn over a white v-neck t-shirt, black leather gloves, black pants, and black combat boots.

Personality[]

Masashi appears to suffer from Dissociative Identity DisorderWP (DID) and maintains at least two "alternate personalities," or alters. While these alters seem to be able to communicate with one another, they do not share memories and thus have no awareness of Masashi's DID. They consider themselves separate individuals. Masashi, as the "host" alter, is arrogant and self-assured in his combat abilities as a yakuza, but becomes petulant and vindictive upon losing multiple matches to Yagami.

His most prominent alter, Ryo, presents as Masashi's elder twin brother, an easygoing civilian with a great sense of pride for being a lazy, uneducated, and unemployed "free spirit," his preferred term for "alcoholic." Due to his high alcohol tolerance, he has a hobby of entering drinking contests with strangers, with the loser covering the bill for the day. Between himself and Masashi, he appears to be the more authoritative and personable of the two, and is a dependable ally.

Masashi may have a third unnamed alter.[speculation] This one uses a distinctly eloquent and sinister manner of speech compared to Masashi and Ryo, and describes himself as a "particularly suave, caned warrior," a "celebrity," and a "living legend." He appears to be an egotistical megalomaniac who believes he will eventually ascend to godhood. As such, he takes his reputation among his "fans" seriously and does not tolerate anything he perceives as an attempt at defamation. Like Ryo, he has a taste for alcohol.

Involvement[]

Judgment: 2018[]

Masashi is ordered by Matsugane Family captain Kyohei Hamura to assassinate Takayuki Yagami due to his continued investigation into the Mole murders. He ambushes Yagami outside Bar Tender, but is defeated. Later on, he is posted to stand guard at the Soleil Building, where Masaharu Kaito is being held hostage by Hamura. He attempts to thwart Yagami and Fumiya Sugiura's rescue effort, engaging in multiple duels with them as they make their way up the building. Every time he is beaten, he simply orders other Matsugane Family members to hold them off and retreats to retrieve another of his canes in order to try again. However, after his fourth fight against them, he is finally subdued.

Afterwards, Ryo takes over and Yagami meets him at Earth Angel. Yagami is initially hostile, but calms down after Ryo states he had fought his "twin brother". Ryo challenges Yagami to a drinking game multiple times, with the loser paying the bill. After Yagami wins three times, Ryo concedes defeat and allies with him.

When the Keihin Gang starts a manhunt for Yagami, Ryo is amongst the inhabitants of Kamurocho who helps the detective fight off the Keihin's attempts on his life. Ryo (alongside Ryan Acosta, Tashiro and Kenji Tanago) joins forces with Yagami to fight against Matsuhisa Koga and his goons in the Kamurocho sewers. After the their leader is defeated, the Keihin Gang is driven out of Kamurocho entirely.

Tashiro (who has become the new level producer for Paradise VR's Yokohama Facility) uses the likenesses of several tough men from Kamurocho to serve as virtual antagonists in the game, but he does so without their permission. Suzaki is amongst the various men whose likeness Tashiro uses without asking.

When the game gets popular and word spreads online about the virtual rivals, Suzaki, Acosta and Tanago realize Tashiro used their images without consultation and they go to Yokohama to confront him. The trio of aggravated tough men then proceed to beat up Tashiro and steal his expensive new outfit as compensation for the unpaid image license fees.

Fighting Style[]

Masashi employs weapons disguised as ornamental canes as the tools of his trade. Throughout Judgment, he is seen using canes that transform into swords, a knife, a pole staff, a baton and a shotgun.

While using his signature sword he uses Someya's sword moveset. His Deadly Attack is a powerful sword slash.

For his knife he uses Nishitani's moveset. His Deadly Attack is to grab Yagami, use his leg to twist him to the ground and then stab him in the chest.

With his pole staff he uses the default pole moveset, his Deadly Attack being a 360 swing.

When armed with the shotgun he uses Andre Richardson's shotgun moveset. For his Deadly Attack he swings his shotgun then quickly fires a single shot.

While using batons he uses default kali stick moveset. His Deadly Attack is a cartwheel while swinging his batons.

When Masashi, as Ryo, joins a fight alongside Yagami after becoming allies, he will only use his cane knife.

Notes[]

  1. The given height of 185 cm (6′ 1″) is based on the character model's scaling factor within Judgment's data.[1] For Dragon Engine games, this method is believed to be very accurate (±2 cm). However, this is intended as an estimate, not a substitute for an official statistic.
