Template:Character infobox Masumi Arakawa (荒川 真澄, Arakawa Masumi) is a character appearing in Ryu ga Gotoku Online and the upcoming Yakuza: Like a Dragon. He is the patriarch of the Arakawa Family, a former Tojo Clan and presently Omi Alliance subsidiary, and the acting captain of the Omi Alliance.

Appearance

In his younger days, Arakawa wears a leather trench coat over snakeskin-motif shirt, a matching pair of dress pants, a pair of dark red leather shoes, a pair of leather gloves, and a fedora hat. In 2019, his attire is a bit changed, with the hat now gone, his shoes now brown instead of dark red, and his trench coat now complemented with a suit jacket and a vest. As the year progressed, his hair is also graying.

Born as the son of a popular theater actor, Arakawa played in his father's troupe as a kid. However, his life changed when his father was murdered at a Chinese restaurant.

As a young adult, he was a member of Hikawa Industries, a yakuza outfit back in the day. Some time in the 1970s, he began secretly dating someone named Akane, who was pregnant at the time, despite his boss' instruction to marry his daughter instead. Things went south when he revealed his relationship to his patriarch; his patriarch beat him badly and ordered to kill both Akane and the baby, but Arakawa decided to run away.

Both Arakawa and Akane decided to meet at Cafe Alps after Akane's labor. However, Akane didn't show up after a while. Soon after, he received a phone call from Akane, who told him that Hikawa Industries yakuza are on to her after the labor, prompting her to run away with the newborn baby to Shinjuku Station. He told her to hide the baby in a locker to ensure her safety. After retrieving the baby, he rushed him to hospital, where doctors diagnosed the baby with hypothermia-induced multiple organ failure. Afterwards, he learned that Akane was caught by the yakuza and was murdered while he was on his way to hospital. The family was soon disbanded on New Year's Day 1977.

Later on, Arakawa became a patriarch of his own family, a third-tier group within the Tojo Clan ranks. However, some time during Ichiban's term in prison, he snitched Tojo Clan to the police, resulting in the clan's eventual demise from Kamurocho.

• He is modeled after his voice actor, Kiichi Nakai.
