The One Ryo Request (一両の願い, Ichiryō no Negai) is the fifth chapter of Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan!.
Plot[]
In 1605, after Haruka has sold herself to Tsuruya, Kiryu goes to the brothel to ask Yoshino to look after the girl. While speaking with her, Kiryu is shocked to learn that Haruka sold herself to Tsuruya's Landlady for only one ryo; a measly amount of money. Later that night, Haruka returns to Kiryu's home and once again restates her request that he kill "Miyamoto Musashi". Swayed by the girl's determination, Kiryu agrees to take on her request.
The following day, acting on a tip from his friend Ito, Kiryu goes to the home of Hon'ami Koetsu; a famous painter who secretly also works as an information broker. Koetsu agrees to tell Kiryu what he knows of this other "Miyamoto Musashi" if he recovers a small, golden statue that was stolen from his home by a gang of thieves led by a mysterious man named Shishido Baiken.
Kiryu tracks down Shishido's gang to a cave system outside Kyoto and fights his way through the gang's various goons to reach Shishido's chambers. Once he meets the gang leader, he is shocked to see that Shishido Baiken is his old friend Majima Gorohachi. However, Majima has lost his memory after falling off the bridge he cut down and no longer recognizes Miyamoto. The pair have a brief fight, where Miyamoto ends up the victor. Impressed by his fighting skills, Majima gives Miyamoto the statue and gleefully asks him to come visit him for a rematch.
After returning the statue to Koetsu, the painter reveals that he knew Kiryu's true identity from the start, since he was the one who drew his wanted posters after Yuki's murder. Despite this, Koetsu says he will not turn him over to Clan Tokugawa, out of a professional duty to never betray a customer. Koetsu also delivers on his side of the bargain and tells Kiryu what he knows about "Miyamoto Musashi": A man using that name has been traveling around Japan for the past couple of years, challenging sword-fighting dojos to duels, and it just so happens that he recently sent a challenge to the Yoshioka Dojo in Kyoto.
