Seonhee[note 2] (선희, Seon-hui/ソンヒ, Sonhi) is a supporting character in Yakuza: Like a Dragon and a playable character in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. She is the leader of the Geomijul and the Yokohama Liumang.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Seonhee has long, dyed lilac hair parted to the right. Similar to Joongi Han, she wears black eyeliner. She also wears brown eyeshadow and red lipstick. Her toenails are painted red.

Attire[]

Seonhee wears a black double breasted leather jacket with rolled up sleeves, a black miniskirt, a silver chain belt, a purple and blue patterned v neck top, a pair of leather gloves, and a pair of black open toe high heels with black pyramid studded ankle straps. She has several ear piercings, including silver hoops for earlobe piercings and a daith piercing with a silver circular barbell in her left ear. On her silver chain necklace she wears a pendant of a spider in a web, likely meant as a nod to the Geomijul's "spider web" of electrical wires.

Personality[]

When Seonhee first introduces herself, she utilizes her charms, flirting with Ichiban Kasuga to gain his trust, but is soon revealed to have a ruthless side with an intolerance for weakness. Later, after more open co-operation between groups begins, she behaves more jovially, though apparently shows some restraint.

Seonhee despises rats and cockroaches, to the point that Han claims that Yokohoma would "drown in a sea of flames" if she spotted the pests in Geomijul. She admits that she has a large appetite, as she describes her stomach as "a bottomless pit." Additionally, she is also very particular about her coffee, as told by Han.[3]

Background[]

Seonhee's parents were presumably part of the Jingweon Mafia, but her mother took her and joined the Geomijul, a syndicate that consists of Jingweon exponents who are abandoned and refused re-entry.

SPOILER WARNING: Plot details for Yakuza: Like a Dragon follow. (Skip)

After Matsuo fails to punish The Harbor Light for cutting off an electricity-siphoning wire, Seonhee reprimands a member for going too far by killing him. She first appears outside of the Geomijul HQ, wearing dark sunglasses to hide her face. She leads Kasuga and his party within Geomijul territory, all the while "flirting" with the ex-yakuza. Upon them entering the building, however, she disappears.

Once Joongi Han shows the group the extensive counterfeiting operation the Geomijul is partaking in, she reappears, and Han introduces her as the organization's leader. After an explanation of their operation, she draws a pistol and aims it at Kasuga's chin, taking the counterfeit bill he had in his pocket after being dumped in Ijincho. Kasuga manages to convince her that he knows nothing about the bill, leading her to relax slightly.

However, she then immediately points the gun at Nanba, accusing him of spying on the Geomijul since his arrival in Yokohama six months earlier. Nanba then confesses, after pressure and a pistol-whipping from Seonhee, that he was only traveling with Kasuga in an attempt to find his brother, who had been investigating the counterfeiting in Ijincho before his disappearance. Seonhee shocks him with a taser and orders her men to take Nanba away, before Kasuga stops her and demands his release. Angrily, she orders Han and the other Geomijul to attack them. Eventually, however, she reluctantly relents and allows Kasuga to flee, but warning him that this was only the beginning.

After Kasuga's escape, she convened a meeting of the Ijin Three - herself, Ryuhei Hoshino and Tianyou Zhao - regarding Nanba's knowledge of the counterfeiting, also giving Zhao proof that Akira Mabuchi betrayed him. They agreed that Nanba had to be silenced, leading to Zhao sending Liumang assassins after him. Though Kasuga and his friends saved Nanba's life, he had already divulged the information he had to Bleach Japan, and openly assisted their attempted raid on the Geomijul. After Kasuga, Adachi and Saeko manage to slip past the Bleach Japan rioters, Seonhee and Han ask for their help in dealing with them.

She contacts Yutaka Ogikubo on what to do now that the Omi Alliance and Bleach Japan are invading their territory. Over the phone, he tells her to end the operation, and Seonhee decides to destroy any evidence of the counterfeiting by burning their machinery. She bows down to Kasuga and his allies, pleading for their help in stopping the combined Omi-Bleach Japan force from interfering with the destruction of the counterfeiting operation. Afterwards, she knocks out Reiji Ishioda and has Hajime Ogasawara taken for questioning. During his interrogation, Ogasawara remarks that inevitably, the Omi would come to save him. Han asks whether they'd come before the Geomijul have finished peeling off his fingernails, to which Seonhee replies that, if she had things her way, she wouldn't stop at just fingernails.

After Mabuchi's Omi-backed coup of the Liumang fails, Zhao resigns as the head of the group, and names Seonhee as his successor, thereby merging the weakened Geomijul with the remnants of the Liumang still loyal to Zhao. Later, she reappears with Hoshino, Kasuga and Zhao in a Chinese restaurant, where the four discuss how to openly challenge Ryo Aoki's growing influence.

Later, Kazuma Kiryu (acting anonymously) asks Seonhee and the Geomijul to look into Aoki's potential plans to send an assassin after Jo Sawashiro, after he surrendered to police. Using the Geomijul's rebuilt surveillance systems, they manage to find Mirror Face and Ishioda in Ijincho, apparently preparing to kill Sawashiro. During this task, she also looks into Kiryu, discovering his identity and the reasons as to why he was choosing to remain anonymous, something she almost accidentally divulges to Kasuga.

After the joint funeral for Masumi Arakawa and Aoki, Seonhee is among the friends who intercept Kasuga, Nanba and Saeko outside the funeral home, wanting to know if Kasuga intended to leave Ijincho. She admitted that she did not know Kasuga cared about his friends in Yokohama after Saeko repeated what he had said inside.

Notes[]

  1. The given height of 177 cm (5′ 10″) is based on the character model's scaling factor within Yakuza: Like a Dragon's data.[2] For Dragon Engine games, this method is believed to be very accurate (±2 cm). However, this is intended as an estimate, not a substitute for an official statistic.
  2. Seonhee's name was incorrectly transliterated as "Seong-hui" in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which was later corrected by localization producer Vicky Lee for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
