Shigeru Kanematsu is a minor character in Yakuza Kiwami 2, as well as Yakuza 2, where he is called Shigeru Kanamatsu.

Appearance[]

Kanematsu goes from being extremely well-dressed, to an unkempt homeless person.

Personality[]

Kanematsu is initially very self-centred and arrogant, throwing away money on impulse. He has a complete personality change when he loses his money, becoming much more down-to-earth.

Background[]

Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2[]

Kanematsu appears in a series of missions in Yakuza 2, condensed down to the single substory "Overwhelming Affluence" in Yakuza Kiwami 2. He first meets Kiryu when he accidentally bumps into him on Shofukucho Street in Sotenbori. Kiryu apologizes, but Kanematsu insists that the fault is his own, and gives Kiryu some money to get himself a check-up.
Later on, Kiryu spots him in Club SEGA Sotenbori, where he challenges Kiryu to an arcade game. After this, Kiryu sees Kanematsu on Sotenbori Bridge, shaking down a man who has borrowed money from him. Kiryu thinks his treatment of the man is heavy-handed.
Finally, Kiryu sees him again on Kamurocho's Shichifuku Street (Yakuza 2), or the southern end of Sotenbori (Yakuza Kiwami 2). Now, he is noticeably more humble in appearance. Kanematsu says that he tried to invest in Kamurocho Hills, but the company was just a scam and he lost everything. Now he says that he is living on the streets. Kiryu agrees to give him some money. Kanematsu then says that he has learned how selfish he used to be and he is glad to have finally learned the true value of money.
