Shion (詩音) is a character featured in Yakuza 5. She is a hostess at Club Eden in Kineicho, and can be requested by Tatsuo Shinada.

Background

Shion was born to a rich family, with her mother being French and her father being Japanese. She inherited her maternal hair color as her hair is naturally blonde, though she isn't fond of it because others think it isn't her natural color. Her grandmother still lives in Lyon, France. Her father's business failed, leading to her family falling into debt. Once her father died of overwork, her mother became weakened, leaving Shion the only one capable of making money. Despite being born-and-raised in Nagoya, she is not fond of using Nagoya dialect, so she speaks in Standard Japanese by choice. Despite initial hesitancy, she reveals that her measurements are 88 69, 82 (35"-27"-32" to the nearest inch).

She is a recovering borderline alcoholic, so she tries not to drink.

She played piano until middle school before switching to guitar, but particularly accoustic nylon-stringed guitars, as her father is a tango and bossa nova player.

She drives a foreign car in an affluent suburb, but she doesn't fully understand why people want to park their cars in garages.

Personality

Shion has expensive tastes. She is quite short-tempered and easily offended, but she explains that it's just her being forthright, but the rough accent leads to misunderstanding. That said, she is interested in Shinada's work as a nightlife journalist. She likes gemstones, especially pearls at the moment, as she is interested in jewellery design, made obvious by the pearl necklaces she wears.

She loves taking pictures, either with her phone or with a SLR camera with manual focus for street photography. Given her wealthy background, however, she doesn't travel domestically with her family. She tries to be helpful and help with directions, but she sometimes has no idea about the roads in her own neighborhood because she drives so much.

She likes desserts, especially French savarin cake.

She values the purity and sacredness of marriage, hence she practices chatity. She also dislikes people that is careless with money despite her wealthy background.

It also turns out that she, like most people from Nagoya, are quite prideful, hence she never explained her dire financial situation.

Involvement

Yakuza 5: 2012

Shion and Shinada are photographed on a date together. They learn that the photographer was hired by the suitor who wants to marry Shion. However, in his findings thus far, Shion's mansion has already been sold off and they are currently renting a 70,000-yen-a-month apartment.

After hearing the truth about the private investigator and rejected marriage proposal, Shion runs off in shock. She in found by Shinada. After Shinada confesses that he cares nothing about her status as he is in no position to judge himself, she asks if he could be his girlfriend, which he accepts. They then visit Shinada's flat, before Shion reveals the true extent of the family debt.

The next time Shinada returns to Club Eden, Shion tells him that she has set up a date with her mother, who tells her that she should had asked for help much sooner. Shion warns him that her mother being vocal about table manners.
