Sota Kume (久米 颯太, Kume Sōta) is a major antagonist featured in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. He is the leader of Bleach Japan's Yokohama branch.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Kume has a noticeably short stature and a side-parted hair.

Attire[]

When marching against Yokohama's gray zones, Kume wears a white Bleach Japan T-shirt over a black, long-sleeved T-shirt, a pair of black pants, and a pair of black leather shoes. As a Kanagawa 2nd District candidate, he wears a black suit over white shirt and magenta or blue tie with a pair of black pants and black leather shoes.

Personality[]

A staunch believer in Bleach Japan's cause, Kume is willing to go to drastic measures to ensure that all of Japan's "gray zones" are eradicated. While he genuinely believes that Bleach Japan's actions are for the greater good, this has led to a black-and-white mindset, and he is described as a "dangerous person, who is not afraid to use violence."

He is aggressive in his speaking and extremely snarky, especially shown when he mocked Isao Nonomiya's death while claiming that Otohime Land closed down thanks to "Bleach Japan's tireless efforts," and resorting to calling Kasuga and his party different names when called out.

Background[]

Kume was charmed by a woman who advocated for Bleach Japan's ideals, which led him to joining Bleach Japan. Eventually, he became their Yokohama branch leader.

SPOILER WARNING: Plot details for Yakuza: Like a Dragon follow. (Skip)

A branch manager of Bleach Japan, Kume has a blind faith of the organization and does not question Ryo Aoki's true intentions, nor the purpose of the organization. In Isezaki Ijincho, he leads protests on the streets to close down gray zone establisments, which leads to the end of many. Isao Nonomiya and Hamako's establishments are among those harrased, leading to the former's losing staff, but Ichiban Kasuga and his party drive off Kume and his colleagues.

Kume tries to have Hamako's brothel, which is registered as a restaurant, shut down by having thugs intimidate her, but Kasuga ensures the plan fails. After Nonomiya dies from an apparent suicide, Kume leads a protest there with weapons to prepare for a fight, but they lose, and the owners of surrounding businesses are antipathetic to Bleach Japan's cause, and yell at them to leave.

Yu Nanba seeks shelter with Bleach Japan after the Geomijul marks him for assassination. Kume and Hajime Ogasawara learn from him that Yutaka Ogikubo is using criminal organizations to forge counterfeit money. This leads Ogasawara to bring in support to march on the Geomijul's territory. Kume notices the support is odd, but does not object. Kume once again meets Kasuga while Bleach Japan takes down the Geomijul's fortification. He and his goons try to stop them, but are defeated and Kume learns his compatriots are Omi Alliance yakuza.

Kume attends Ogasawara's funeral, where Aoki makes official his endorsement of Kume running for the Kanagawa District Two seat, though he does not know it is a play for Aoki to establish his political power. He begins campaigning around Ijincho, and learns Kasuga had entered to compete against him. He starts admonishing Kasuga for taking the election lightly, but Kasuga arrives and leaves Kume speechless with his arguments, causing Kume to flee and Kasuga to gain support. Kasuga approaches Kume again and tries to take him to a private location for a chat, causing Kume to run to Aoki in Kamurocho to ask for more security.

On election day, Kume wins the election for Kanagawa District Two. After learning of Aoki's true identity thanks to the video that Joongi Han leaks online, Kume suffers a psychotic breakdown as everything he knows is revealed to be a lie. He tracks Aoki and Kasuga to the coin lockers, and stabs Aoki just before he turns himself in.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: Kume escapes during the following chaos, but is eventually caught by the police. He is subsequently charged for stabbing Aoki and his past crimes, receiving a long prison sentence.

SPOILERS END HERE. (Return)

Fighting Style[]

Kume shares his fighting style with other Bleach Japan Protestors. Unlike them, he is weak to every attack except Magic Lightning and Gun attacks.

Trivia[]

  • Kume is the only boss to not be featured in the Sujidex.
  • The seat Kume runs for, Kanagawa 2nd district, is held in real life by Yoshihide Suga, Former Prime Minister of Japan (2020-2021), who has held the seat since it was created.

  1. The given height of 165 cm (5′ 5″) is based on the character model's scaling factor within Yakuza: Like a Dragon's data.[1] For Dragon Engine games, this method is believed to be very accurate (±2 cm). However, this is intended as an estimate, not a substitute for an official statistic.
