Sun (孫, Sūn) is a minor antagonist featured in Yakuza 6.

Background[]

Sun was a member of the Snake Flower Triad's Japanese branch, working as a minor lieutenant for its leader, Lau Ka Long. He apparently fought against Kazuma Kiryu during one of the Tojo man's quarrels with the Snake Flower, but it is unspecified when this took place.

After Lau's apparent death during the events of Yakuza 3, the Triad's headquarters in China disbanded the organization's Japanese branch, abandoning all members who could not afford to return home in Japan. These former members, referred to as the "Snake Flower Holdouts", continued operating as many of the Triad's former businesses as they could. Sun became the leader of the Holdouts but, despite his efforts, the Holdouts' power gradually diminished and they were eventually driven completely out of business by a rival organization, the Saio Triad.

Main article: Baring Their Fangs

Sun orders one of his lackeys, Jiang, to start preparing bombs and setting them up in and around Saio Triad businesses, with the intent of taking revenge on them for taking their territory. Unfortunately for Sun, the Snake Flower's old rival, Kiryu, caught wind of the plot after the first attack. Kiryu tracked down the bomber and persuaded him to stop the plot and instead retire from his life of crime, since the Snake Flower stood no chance of defeating the Saio and antagonizing them any further would get them all killed.

A Rivalry RebornWP It's shown that, despite Jiang's efforts, Sun and the other Snake Flower Holdouts refused to give up on their grudge. Instead, they take the bomber captive and send a message to Kiryu telling him to find them at the Yoshida Batting Center, lest they execute him. Kiryu does as instructed, confronting Sun and his minions at the Batting Center to rescue the captured bomber and to try to convince the Holdouts to stand down. Upon arrival, Kiryu is attacked by Sun and his men, who seek revenge for Kiryu's role in Lau's death all those years before, but they are ultimately defeated. Demoralized by their failure, the Holdouts agree to disband, despite Sun's objections. Regardless, when Kiryu departs, the Holdouts privately agree that their disbandment is only until an opportunity to re-take their territory arises.
