Sunflower Orphanage (ひまわり, Himawari) is an orphanage run by Shintaro Kazama.

History[edit | edit source]

The orphanage was founded by Shintaro Kazama at an unknown time well before the events of the game. It houses orphans whose parents have been murdered by the yakuza. Former residents include Kazuma Kiryu, Akira Nishikiyama (and his sister Yuko), Yumi Sawamura, and Haruka Sawamura.

Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2[edit | edit source]

In Yakuza 2 and its remake, Kiryu learns that Sunflower Orphanage, at the time being managed by a woman named Suenaga as its caretaker, is in need of improvements here and there, so he donates some money to renovate it, as well as finding the dog from the previous game to send to the children as a pet.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Japanese word for sunflower is "Himawari," which is also a spoof television brand that appears in advertisements in Yakuza 0.
