The Sunlight Castle (陽だまりの城, Hidamari no Shiro) is located in Isezaki Ijincho.
It is a retirement home under control of the Ryuto Family and is part of a fraud scheme by its chairman Yamato Totsuka.
Overview[]
An initial fee of ¥5,000,000 is required to allow a person to reside there, with an additional payment of ¥500,000 required each subsequent month. The "Excellent Course" requires ¥20,000,000 initially and ¥1,000,000 monthly after being screened for certain qualifications. The facility is run with high standards, as such, they hire best-in-class staff and use top-grade machinery with guards on patrol and a security system. Entrance into the facility is only allowed to workers or direct family members of the residents. Located on the seventh floor is the Excellent Area, accessible only by keycards given to full-time nurses and guards; the evacuation route is left unlocked, however.
In reality, the place is run as part of a pension scheme. The security guards are Ryuto Family members. While the Excellent Area appears to be a VIP living area, the Excellent Room is actually a place where residents are euthanized. The deaths are kept secret and payments continue even though the resident is dead.
History[]
According to Koichi Adachi, the establishment used to be a bank in the Meiji era. Ryuhei Hoshino states his Seiryu Clan had bought the establishment in the 1980s as many had felt it was an important part of the city's history. It was bought and turned into a retirement home that Totsuka would direct.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon: 2019[]
Otohime Land owner Isao Nonomiya sends Ichiban Kasuga, Yu Nanba, and Koichi Adachi to check on Nanoha Mukoda. Nanoha had met with Yamato Totsuka in a café and he asks her to pay the fee for her father Tatsuro Mukoda. Ten days later, the trio attempt a rescue. Kasuga bumps into a janitor, allowing Adachi and Nanba to steal a keycard. They enter the Excellent Room and save Tatsuro from being injected with potassium chloride, but are confronted by the Ryuto Family and later Totsuka. Kasuga beats Totsuka and demands he release the elderly held in the Excellent Area, but he refuses. Kasuga decides to inform the Seiryu Clan chairman Ryuhei Hoshino about Totsuka's scheme.
Sunlight Castle is shut down afterwards, with all outstanding charges returned to their customers and the current residents allowed to stay free of charge until other arrangements can be made.
