Jung immigrated to Japan from Korea sometime before 1980. She was the wife of the Jingweon Mafia boss and later became Jiro Kawara's partner. With the two men she had two children: Ryuji Goda in 1976, and Kaoru Sayama in 1981.
Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2Edit
In the introduction, Suyeon and her son was found by Jiro Kawara during the raid on the Jingweon Mafia by the Dojima Family. Kawara tried to convince her to leave the building with him but refused and tried to jump off the window along with the boy. Kawara stops her and slapped her from doing so and reminded her child is innocent that she should not throw his life away. Kawara and Tsutomu Bessho took Suyeon out of Kamurocho and moved to Kansai to help her start a new life. During the time Suyeon gave birth to Kaoru, Kawara attempt to turn down a law enforcement post in Hong Kong believing that he'll leave her and Kaoru alone. Suyeon convinced Kawara to accept the offer for his career since they only engage for one year and does not need to have him worry too much. However, Suyeon was murdered by a Jingweon assailent from the mainland after Kawara departs to Hong Kong. Her death caused Kawara to seek revenge on the Jingweon Mafia and murdered numerous counts of Jingweon members who arrived to Japan. Before her demise, Suyeon begged Tamiyo Sayama to take Kaoru as her daughter hoping to free Kaoru from her inheiritence to the Jingweon Mafia.
