Tatsuya Kawagoe (川越 達也, Kawagoe Tatsuya) is a character featured in Yakuza 5 modeled after the famous real-life celebrity chef of the same name.

Tatsuya is depicted as a celebrity chef who hosts his own traveling cooking show, touring around the country to look for the next great taste. He also is a mentor to all of the protagonists, allowing each of them to gain access to food-related skills such as doubling their health bars. After Tatsuya visits three local restaurants in each city, he designs a dish to add to the menu of a restaurant. He has to ask two people (Haruka Sawamura and Shun Akiyama) to cover more ground in Sotenbori because Haruka is underage and cannot drink alcohol.
Tatsuya later falls ill with a stomachache so Haruka fills in to rate the food at Komian.
After Kazuma Kiryu returns to Kamurocho, he askes Tatsuya for help to save Cafe Alps in Kamurocho after its rapid expansion isn't going as smoothly as planned. Unbeknownst to Kiryu: He has already made new menu items for the new branches in Tsukimino and Kineicho. However: Tatsuya would be too busy to help initially, but later manages to help with a new dish.
