Tsutomu Bessho (別所 勉, Bessho Tsutomu) is a character in Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2. He is an investigator for Division Four of the Osaka Prefectural Police.

Appearance[]
Bessho wears a purple shirt with rolled sleeves and a pair of black slacks. Physically, he has a buzzcut hair and a five o'clock shadow on his face.
Personality[]
Bessho can be somewhat brash, blunt and rude at times, but this is mostly due to him being a hardened cop and to warn others that their adversaries can be dangerous. However, aside from this attitude, he's shown to have a degree of compassion, apparent when he asked Kiryu to take care of Kaoru after she left the interrogation room.
Background[]
Bessho was a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and used to work in Kamurocho before being transferred to Osaka. According to Date, by the time he joined the forces, Bessho was considered the golden boy of Kamurocho's local police alongside Kawara.
Bessho's early days spanned as early as the 1980s, where he was once worked in Kamurocho during the massacre alongside Kawara. By his accounts, the massacre, which was done by the Dojima Family, was merely a move to wipe out the Jingweon mafia. Some time after the massacre, Bessho and Kawara were transferred to Kansai, specifically Osaka.
Years later, in 2006, Bessho holds the position of the local police's fourth division chief.

Bessho allows Kaoru Sayama to investigate Kazuma Kiryu.
Bessho sets up a voluntary interrogation with Ryo Takashima regarding Sayama's bullet wound, however, is unable learn anything from him.
Being investigated by Sayama regarding details of the Jingweon Massacre, Bessho eventually gives in, and informs her of a man named Murai at a place named Keima.
