Ueda Ryohei (植田 良平, Ueda Ryōhei) is a character featured in Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan! loosely based on a fictional character of the same name from the dramatized biography Miyamoto MusashiWP.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan!: 1605[]
When Miyamoto Musashi (acting under the alias Kiryu Kazumanosuke) tries to join the Yoshioka Dojo so he can learn about the imposter who'd sent the dojo a challenge under his name, he is pitted against Ueda as his opponent in the entrance exam. Despite Ueda being the dojo's highest-ranked disciple, Miyamoto defeats him with ease. When the dojo's masters, Seijuro and Denshichiro, have a disagreement over whether to let Miyamoto join despite the fact that he does not belong to any noble houses, Ueda sides with Denshichiro in opposing Miyamoto's entry to the dojo.
On the day of the duel, Miyamoto goes to take part in it in representation of the Yoshioka Dojo, as he'd been ordered to do by another dojo member, Gion Toji, who'd blackmailed him with knowledge of his true identity. However, when waiting for "Miyamoto Musashi" at the duel's location, he is instead confronted and attacked by Seijuro. Toji had told the dojo master that Kiryu was actually Miyamoto and that he'd covertly infiltrated their dojo to learn their techniques and kill both Yoshioka brothers. Miyamoto reluctantly duels Seijuro and ends up inflicting a mortal wound on him.
After the duel is over, Ueda and several other dojo members emerge from hiding places and reveal a devastating truth to Miyamoto and a dying Seijuro: He and Toji sent the fake challenge from "Miyamoto Musashi" because they intended to murder both Yoshioka brothers to usurp control of their dojo and then blame the killing on Miyamoto. When the real Miyamoto showed up at the dojo using an alias, they simply adapted their plan to include him, since it made framing him easier. When Ueda informs the pair that Toji is en route to murder Denshichiro in Sanjusangendo, Seijuro uses his dying breaths to beg Miyamoto to save his brother.
Ueda and his goons attack Miyamoto, but he is rescued by the arrival of his friend, Ito Ittosai. Ito holds off Ueda and the others while Miyamoto rushes off to rescue Denshichiro. Ultimately, Ito kill Ueda during their battle and Miyamoto arrives in time to save Denshichiro from Toji.
