Wong Tou (黃拓, Wòhng Tok/ウォン・トー, Won Tō) is a character featured in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. He is the commander of the Ganzhe and the proprietor of the Nirvana Hotel.
Background[]
Wong was born and raised in China by unnamed parents. As a young adult, he set his sights on America and moved to Hawaii, planning to eventually expand to the mainland. He started his own mafia, which would later be known as the Ganzhe, and drove out the existing Chinese community. He opened the Nirvana Hotel around this time, which would serve as the Ganzhe's main base of operations and a large source of their income.
Around 1993, as he was planning to make his next move in Hawaii, he was approached and threatened by a man who claimed to work with "the Overseer." Given his newfound status, Wong ignored his threats, believing them to be empty. Less than a week later, he received a small cardboard box addressed from his hometown; inside the box was his mother's head. He immediately realized how powerful the Overseer was, who he learned was Bryce Fairchild, and began complying with him. Over the years, he always looked for a chance to avenge his mother's death, carefully choosing subordinates he believed would not report to Bryce. Around 2017, Wong fathered a son, whose mother eventually left, prompting him to hire a babysitter.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: 2023[]
Ichiban Kasuga, Kazuma Kiryu and their allies decide to investigate Wong Tou as his Ganzhe appear to be searching for Akane Kishida, like other factions in the city. The party eventually locates the secret, high rollers-only casino that Wong is known to appear in. Due to Kasuga's face being well-known, he remains outside the casino to watch remotely through spy gadgets carried by his allies. As soon as Wong meets with them, however, he announces he is aware of Kasuga's presence outside (as the spy gadgets were detected by the security systems), and has them call him in. Wong and his subordinates battle and ultimately lose to Kiryu and Kasuga's party.
Afterwards, under threat of being attacked if he is silent, Wong begins explaining that his group was ordered to search for Akane by the "Overseer". One of Wong's henchman orders him to stop talking, exposing the henchman as a spy for the Overseer; the henchman leaps out of a window to his death, signaling Wong's betrayal to the Overseer. This causes many of Wong's men to also reveal themselves as spies, and announce they have taken Wong's 6-year-old son hostage (the babysitter was also loyal to the Overseer). With the help of Kiryu and Kasuga's team, Wong is able to escape his traitorous subordinates albeit with a leg injury, and later names the Overseer as Palekana's leader, Bryce Fairchild.
Wong stays with Kasuga and Kiryu's party at the Daidoji Faction safehouse. Later, a raid on it by the Barracudas leads to him and Kihei Hanawa being killed.
His 6-year-old son is held captive on Nele Island, but later saved after Bryce is defeated.
Fighting Style[]
Wong Tou wields a poison-tipped knife and is fought alongside 4 henchmen. He holds his knife in his right hand, close to his head, and he has his left hand out flat. His attacks include the following:
- Perforate — a lunging knife thrust. This attack can inflict 'Poison'.
- Venom Slicer — Wong slashes the air in front of him creating a moving energy blade damaging any party in its way, then turns 180° and slashes again. This attack can inflict 'Poison'.
- Effortless Elegance — Wong stands up straight and puts both hands behind his back, giving himself 3 stacks of 'Evasion'.
Once 1/3 of his health is left, he'll enter Heat Mode and gain access to:
- Chi Cleanser — Wong squats and puts both arms forward, giving himself HP Recovery. This activates immediately after he enters Heat mode.
- Hornet's Hive — a Rush combo of a close crescent slash, a vertical right slash, a left diagonal slash, a back kick, and a lunging stab. This attack can inflict 'Poison'.
- Stormchaser — Wong rushes at a party member doing a slide kick and a vertical slash, he does a lunging knife thrust at another party member, and finally a jumping diagonal left downward slash. This attack can inflict 'Poison'.
His Heat aura is neon pink.
Trivia[]
- Wong Tou's battle theme, "Giftiger Füllhalter" is German for "Toxic Fountain Pen." This may be in reference to the pen knife he uses during battle, which inflicts poison through the pen's ink.
- Similar to Dwight whose weakness is Water-type attacks, Wong Tou is weak to Gun-type attacks, foreshadowing his demise.
