This is the Manual of Style for character articles. It documents the Yakuza Wiki's established guidelines for their standard layout, as well as Wiki rationale for them. The Wiki has set these guidelines in place to maintain a sense of reliability and cohesiveness while keeping best practices in mind.
Criteria[]
Before a character article is created at all, it must meet at least one of the Wiki's criteria for creation.
Title[]
Character articles should be titled either according to the name used for the character for the majority of their screentime or according to their name in the credits of the game(s) they make an appearance in.

Each subsection of this section outlines a component of the Wiki's ideal standardized layout for articles on characters. They are listed in the order they should appear while in the source editor.

The infobox used for character articles is {{Character Infobox}}. This section concerns guidelines for the preferred formatting of information within the infobox. For specific details on the template's usage and syntax, please refer to the template page itself.

This section outlines guidelines {{Character Infobox|<relationships>}} For purposes of clarity and internal consistency, the Wiki limits the pool of relationship tags that may be used within the parameter and how many can be used for a given entry. For clarity, please use the {{rel|<tag>}} template when using this tag. The template defines the tag and links back to this page.

The preferred term for non-biological familial relationships is "adoptive," even if it is not technically accurate from a legal standpoint, because it is the most widely understood term applicable to the majority of instances of this type of relationship.
