Yan () is a minor character featured in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. He is the overseer of the Yokohama Trading Company.

Background[]

Yan is a member of the Yokohama Liumang, the biggest Chinese criminal syndicate in Yokohama. Within the organization, he serves as the foreman of the Yokohama Trading Company warehouse which Akira Mabuchi uses as the center of his yuan counterfeiting business.

Yan managed the day-to-day affairs for this operation and he was presumably aware that Mabuchi ran the counterfeiting racket without permission from the Liumang's leader, Tianyou Zhao.

Involvement[]

Yakuza: Like a Dragon: 2019[]

Ichiban Kasuga and his friends try to steal some of the counterfeit money as proof of mabuchi's crimes, Yan catches them in the act and tries to kill them to keep the racket a secret. Despite defeating Yan and his men in the ensuing fight, Ichiban and company are knocked unconscious by an explosion that results from one of the warehouse workers trying to run them over with a truck.

Yan takes the unconscious Party prisoner and tells Mabuchi about the incident at the warehouse. After Mabuchi is done interrogating Ichiban, he instructs Yan to torture and kill him and his friends to make examples of them to the Seiryu Clan. However, the Party are saved by Joongi Han, who distracts Yan and unties them, allowing them to fight their way out of Mabuchi's dungeon.

While they flee, Yan tries again to kill Ichiban and his friends once more by attacking them with an Excavator, but the Party manages to destroy the machine and make good their escape.

Fighting Style[]

During his first fight, Yan uses a sledgehammer as his weapon of choice, using moves like Megaton Hammer to try and stun opponents. He also has access to dynamite.

During his second fight, he wields a crowbar,

During his last fight, he drives an Excavator and swings and slams its giant arm into the party to harm them as well as kicking up sand to lower the parties hit rate.

Notes[]

  1. The given height of 185 cm (6′ 1″) is based on the character model's scaling factor within Yakuza: Like a Dragon's data.[1] For Dragon Engine games, this method is believed to be very accurate (±2 cm). However, this is intended as an estimate, not a substitute for an official statistic.
