Yasuo Sodachi (曽田地 康夫, Sodachi Yasuo) is a recurring character in the Yakuza series first introduced in Yakuza 4. He is the owner of the Sodachi Dojo.

Personality Edit

Sodachi is a kind and considerably energetic person, however, he does tend to have a bit of a greedy side to him, shown in Yakuza 4 whenever he receives money or trophies from tournaments his students participate in. One of the most prominent running jokes is his low self-esteem and tendency to be ignored by his peers, showing him making self-deprecating jokes often.

Appearance Edit

Sodachi has a buzz-cut, a thin stubble, and a long goatee on his chin. In Yakuza 4 and 5, he dons a yellow traditional martial arts uniform with a tiger emblem. In Yakuza 6, the top is changed to a black tank top with similar tiger emblem, and he wears a pair of flip-flop. In Yakuza 4 and 5, he has a somewhat lean build, while in Yakuza 6, he's shown to have gained a good amount of muscle.

Yakuza 4 Edit

He's introduced in Yakuza 4 as a martial arts teacher who owns a dojo named after himself in Kamurocho. After witnessing Saejima in the coliseum, he asks him for his help at his dojo, in which Saejima reluctantly agrees. Saejima can access to play his side story - the Fighter Maker, where he helps Sodachi to train his students at his dojo to be a proficient fighter and fight at a rookie's championship at the Coliseum.

Yakuza 5 Edit

He's introduced early in Saejima's arc in a substory. Sodachi explains that Saejima's training helped the dojo a lot, gaining more students than before. Sodachi asked Saejima to fight the pupils so they can learn from him, to which Saejima accepts.

In another substory, Saejima found Sodachi and the rest of the dojo beaten down by a bunch of goons from a real estate company that wants to buy the dojo. Not pleased at how the goons treated Sodachi and the students, Saejima proceeds to fight the goons.

Yakuza 6 Edit

Sodachi meets Kiryu outside the Kamurocho branch of RIZAP, immediately recognizing him despite Kiryu not knowing him at all. He tries to invoke Kiryu's memory by mentioning a moment where they fight each other at the Coliseum, but to no avail, however, the two started to get along after Sodachi mentioned that he's a long-time friend of Saejima. During the events of Yakuza 6, he sold the dojo, taking advantage of the surging land prices and started to take RIZAP's membership to hone his strength and asked Kiryu for a fight. Initially, Kiryu's a bit reluctant to do it, but his reluctance fades off afterwards. Completing his substory will make Sodachi available as a fighter in the Clan Creator mini-game.

  • Sodachi makes a cameo appearance in Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin! as Hidetake Toyotomi, presumed to be of the famous Toyotomi Clan that ruled over Japan in the 16th century. He is also the final dungeon boss in the Battle Dungeon missions that Hajime Saito undertakes as a captain of the Shinsengumi.
  • Anyone who belittles Sodachi henceforth will see my fist in their face.
