Yokohama (横浜) is a city just south of Tokyo in the Japanese region of Kanto. Located in the city is Isezaki Ijincho, a district prominently featured in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Lost Judgment and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and with a minor role in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

History[]

Protagonist Kazuma Kiryu was born in Yokohama on June 17, 1968.[1] During the 1980s, Lau Ka Long of the Snake Flower Triad took control of the Yokohama underworld, setting up his base of operations in a large Chinese restaurant in the city.

Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami: 2005[]

During the events of the game, Kiryu and Makoto Date visit the city's Chinatown to rescue Haruka Sawamura, who is being held captive by the Snake Flower Triad. Yokohama is not explorable during this brief segment, which is only playable during Kiryu's mission in their restaurant.

Yakuza 3: 2009[]

Yokohama is also not explorable in this game. However, in the Remastered version of the game, the intro conversation with Daigo in his car is shown to be in Yokohama's Chinatown. Goh Hamazaki strikes a deal with the Snake Flower Triad to take control of the city's underworld. He is seen blowing up a small Chinese restaurant and killing its owner.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon: 2019[]

Ichiban Kasuga is dumped in a trash can in Yokohama after being shot and left for dead by Masumi Arakawa. Yokohama, specifically Isezaki Ijincho, is the main playable area of the game. However, both Kamurocho and Sotenbori are explorable as well.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name: 2019[]

The southern region of Ijincho is briefly explorable during the game's first chapter, but Kiryu soon leaves it to visit the game's primary explorable city, Sotenbori, which is where the majority of the game takes place. Ijincho can be returned to in premium adventure.

Lost Judgment: 2021[]

Takayuki Yagami and Masaharu Kaito have been invited by the new detective agency Yokohama 99 (formed by Fumiya Sugiura and Makoto Tsukumo) to investigate some prominent bullying cases in Seiryo High School. Ijincho is once again prominently featured and explorable in this game, though Kamurocho is explorable as well.

Certain streets have been closed off such as Romance Street, Sunrise Street, and the Southern Portion of Central Street. In addition, Seiryo High School as been added near Kinka Bridge. The tracks heading West have been slightly moved south to accommodate for the school's location.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: 2023[]

Ijincho is once again a featured and explorable district in this game.
