Yui Tabata (田端 唯, Tabata Yui) is a minor character featured in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. She is the former matriarch of the Tabata Family.

Background

Yui lived a very lavish lifestyle as the wife of Shuji Tabata, living off money generated by the Tabata Family. She would "go on million yen shopping sprees" and "order champagne towers every night." Shuji was willing to look past her faults, and her lifestyle attracted many of his subordinates. She started an affair with the Tabata Family captain, knowing Shuji would never accept it.

Around 1993, she took notice of Yutaka Yamai, a twenty-year-old member of the family she could tell from a distance was highly infatuated with her. She realized she could use Yamai to kill Shuji, and spoke to Yamai alone one day, confessing her affair with the captain. She explained a plan to kill Shuji: she would tell Shuji about her affair, he would hit her, and Yamai would step in and kill him. She promised to keep Yamai safe from the police or the family, and he accepted, saying "anything, for you." That night, Yamai accompanied her to Shuji's office, and he killed Shuji. Yui then ripped her clothes and ran to Shuji's subordinates, claiming Yamai killed Shuji then attempted to assault her. Shuji's subordinates then chased after Yamai, who managed to escape. Soon after Shuji's death, Yui began living a happy life openly with the captain. She later began suffering Alzheimer's disease, and became confined to a hospital bed.

Suffering Alzheimer's disease early at the age of fifty-seven, Yui is confined to her hospital bed at the Masada Hospital. She is visited by an old acquaintance, but is unable to recognize him due to her memory loss. She asks him if breakfast is ready, and asks for the heat to be turned up. He imparts his coat to her, and she thanks him.
