Yuki Sawada (澤田 有希, Sawada Yūki) is a character featured in Yakuza 5. He is the ace pitcher of the Tokyo Gigants and the heir to the Nagoya Family.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Sawada has short black hair and a tall, muscular build.

Attire[]

Sawada wears a gray double breasted suit over a blue and white striped dress shirt and a yellow necktie. He also wears a black leather belt with a silver buckle and black leather cap toe single monk strap dress shoes. While fighting, he takes off his suit jacket and tie, also unbuttoning the top two buttons of his shirt and rolling up his sleeves.

Personality[]

Sawada has a degree of respect to Shinada despite his professional rivalry with him, regarding Shinada as his worthy opponent.

Background[]

Attending Chukyo Academy, Sawada was considered to be the pinnacle of high school baseball. In reality, he was backed by the Kuroha Family, who ensured his success through bribery and threats to his opponents. During this period, he developed a rivalry with Tatsuo Shinada, a batter for an opposing school.

In 1997, Sawada joined the Nagoya Family, serving as the heir to the group's leader, Fujita. Sawada also signed with the Tokyo Gigants as their first pick, despite being a Nagoya native.

The day before a match-fixed game between the Tokyo Gigants and the Nagoya Wyverns, Sawada met with Fujita at bar. Fujita was concerned with the fact that Shinada, unaware of the match-fixing, had joined the Nagoya Wyverns, and might be facing off against Sawada the next day. Sawada was instructed by Fujita to throw a fastball, despite Shinada's weakness being curveballs. At this point, Sawada believed there was no turning back from the match-fixing, but decided to follow Fujita's order anyway.

On June 8, 1997, Sawada began playing the match against the Nagoya Wyverns. During the game, Shinada was sent in to pinch-hit against Sawada. After six fouled curveballs, Sawada decided to throw the fastball, and watched as Shinada hit a home run on that pitch. From that point on, Sawada would reflect on that home run, puzzled by how his fastball had been read.
